Professor Guram Karazanashvili’s path to establishing robotic surgery in the Caucasus region!
In the program, the founder of the clinic, international expert in robotic surgery, reconstructive urologist and uro-oncologist, Professor Guram Karazanashvili, speaks.
Decades of professional experience, international scientific activity, knowledge gained at the leading clinics of Europe and America, and significant achievements in prostate cancer research became the foundation for the breakthrough changes that enabled Georgian patients to undergo complex oncological operations using modern robotic technologies in their own country. Robotic surgery is not only a modern technology – it is the result of the professor’s long-term vision: high precision, less trauma, minimal blood loss, faster rehabilitation, and greater opportunities to preserve the patient’s quality of life.
Today, the Karazanashvili Robotic Center has performed more than 300 robotic operations, and Georgia occupies a leading position on the international map of robotic surgery.
It is noteworthy that Professor Guram Karazanashvili is the first robotic surgeon in Georgia and the Caucasus who created an artificial urinary bladder with the help of robotic technology. His technique for creating an artificial urinary bladder has been recognized by the American Urological Association as a technical and innovative approach.
Professor Guram Karazanashvili has always treated every medical innovation in the world with great attention and enthusiasm and spared no effort to introduce them in Georgia. A clear example of this is the unique prostate cancer screening based on 29 MHz micro-ultrasound introduced 5 years ago, transperineal fusion biopsy, robotic focal therapy, and the non-surgical stone fragmentation method – targeted lithotripsy.
In the future, we plan to introduce many more innovative methods and modern medical technologies for Georgian patients. Our goal is to make the latest achievements of world medicine accessible in Georgia. Therefore, stay tuned to our updates.
