A Unique Robotic Bladder Surgery Performed Only at the Karazanashvili Robotic Center in the Caucasus.
The surgery performed for bladder cancer involved the complete removal of the urinary bladder. Its special significance lies in the fact that an artificial bladder was created for the patient from a segment of the intestine entirely through robotic surgery and entirely inside the body. It should be noted that this highly complex surgical procedure has already become an established practice at our clinic and is performed routinely.
The Karazanashvili Robotic Center is the only center in Georgia, Armenia, and Azerbaijan where robotic intracorporeal artificial bladder reconstruction is performed that is, a procedure during which a new bladder is created inside the body without a large incision.
It is noteworthy that the robotic creation of an artificial bladder attracted the interest of the Armenian colleague, Professor Armen Avoyan.
He is the Head of the Department of Urology and Clinical Director of Astghik Medical Center in Armenia.
Professor Avoyan was hosted by internationally recognized urologist and uro-oncologist, the founder of robotic surgery in Georgia and the Caucasus, Professor Guram Karazanashvili.
As part of the visit, under the leadership of Professor Guram Karazanashvili, another highly complex and unique procedure was performed a radical cystectomy with intracorporeal creation of an artificial bladder.
Under the leadership of Professor Guram Karazanashvili, the Karazanashvili Robotic Center continues to introduce and perform unique robotic procedures that are available only at our center throughout the Caucasus region.
